Congratulations on taking a significant step towards nurturing your child's spiritual growth by raising him or her in the Catholic faith. To initiate the process of this beautiful sacrament, kindly complete the form provided on this page.
At St. Joseph Parish, we ask that parents attend a Baptism Preparation class before or after having their baby baptized. The class will be held individually through Zoom or Google Meets with Deacon Phil Sirk. After submitting your Baptismal form, Deacon Phil will contact you to arrange the class for your family. If you have previously attended a Baptism Preparation class at another Catholic Church or here for a prior child, you are not required to attend another one.
To make your child's Baptism a truly significant event, we ask that you please provide the names of two Godparents who are over the age of sixteen. As Catholic witnesses, the Godparents have a critical role in the ceremony. They must be practicing Catholics who are in good standing, and we require a letter from their home Parish to ensure this. This is a standard practice among Parishes, and we appreciate your cooperation in making this a special and meaningful occasion for your child.
However, if one of your preferred individuals is not Catholic, they can act as a Christian Witness instead. Similarly, Christian Witnesses must be Christian and at least sixteen years old. Thank you for your understanding.
Please note, as with any sacrament, only the parents should request their child's first sacrament. We are very happy to see others involved in the child's faith; however, it is the parents' obligation.
To schedule your child's Baptism, please submit an online request on the right side of this page. After we receive your request, we will contact you to discuss available dates. Baptisms are typically held in the Downtown Church on Sundays at 11:00 a.m., following the 10:00 a.m. Mass.
Beginning on October 14, 2024, all Baptisms will be at our South location after the 9:00 am Mass, due to the Downtown Church revitalization project.
We Baptize one child (or siblings), per Sunday so the event is a private affair. However, please be aware that there are certain times of the year when Baptisms are not available. If this is the case, the Parish Office will discuss alternative options with you.
If you are currently registered here, you need only fill out the Baptism form. If you are new to our parish - Welcome! We ask that you also complete our registration form which can be filled out by clicking here.
If you are registered at another parish, we will require that you have permission from your Pastor. Please let your parish know and they will help you with the letter of permission. This is a standard practice within the Catholic Church.
